The more they tried to impose the Georgian patriarchal culture on Jane, the greater resistance and criticism arose in her. She refused to get married, enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, studied film, fell in love, and, finally, at age 38 got pregnant. After years of running away and just a moment before becoming a mother, Jane returns to her family and her past with a camera, allowing her to stand confidently. Through the camera she seeks to break the silence and attempts to understand her mother and herself in the shadow of complex relationships with men in the family – to understand and perhaps to forgive.
