Masculinity (temporary title) is an exhibition dealing with the face of “traditional” Israeli masculinity, the network of expectations surrounding it, and the modes of formulation in relation to the existing social order. The exhibition will touch on the model of Israeli masculinity and the way it has been formulated over the years and reflected in culture, society, family, gender relations and more.
Through the works of contemporary Israeli artists, the exhibition will illustrate the male preoccupation with complexities of relationships, the definitions and social roles intended for him, as well as the confrontation with the discourse of contemporary identities and the changing gender reality.
The exhibition seeks to stimulate an in-depth discussion about the male experience in a way never-before seen or heard.
